Power governs how your base runs: generators produce energy that powers machines, lights, and life support systems. Efficient placement and choice of generator types determine throughput and footprint.
Generator tiers and outputs
Generators exist in basic and advanced tiers; advanced versions use the same resource (sunlight or wind) with higher efficiency and much greater output.
Solar Generators
- Solar Generator (basic): photovoltaic generator that produces 10 MW. Use on exposed surfaces with good sun exposure.
- Solar Generator V2 (advanced): higher-efficiency photovoltaic generator that produces 1,000 MW. Requires the same placement considerations but delivers dramatically more power per unit.
Wind Turbines
- Wind Turbine V1 (basic): converts wind into electricity, producing 200 MW.
- Wind Turbine V2 (advanced): higher-efficiency wind generator producing 2,000 MW. Place where natural wind is available or where flow can be directed; the V2 model provides a large step up in power.
Other power sources
Helium-3 Extractor: a specialized extractor that outputs commodity
Helium-3 rather than direct electricity. It produces 8
Helium-3 every 2 seconds (equivalent to 240/min).
Helium-3 is a resource used by dedicated power infrastructure or converters, not direct generator output.
Placement and usage guidelines
- Choose generator type by resource availability: use solar generators where uninterrupted sunlight is available; use wind turbines where steady wind or engineered airflow exists.
- Upgrade to V2 models as soon as feasible—advanced models multiply output by orders of magnitude and reduce the number of units needed.
- Balance production with consumption: oversized generation is wasted if not hooked into storage or loads; undersized generation causes brownouts.
Integration and scaling
- Mix generator types to smooth out resource variability (e.g., solar for day cycles, wind for variable winds).
- Use
Helium-3 produced by extractors when gameplay paths require it for high-density power solutions or conversion buildings; plan extractor output rates (8 every 2s) around the consumption rate of the consumers.
