Overview

The Naval Factory is a production building that constructs naval units. It functions like other unit-producing blocks in the game: you queue a naval unit as a build order and the factory spends items, power and time to produce the vessel which then leaves the factory to join your forces.

The Naval Factory was introduced in Version 6.0. It is used specifically to manufacture sea units and is integrated into the tech progression that unlocks naval warfare. The factory’s available recipes and build requirements are tied to research milestones: in later updates the research prerequisite for the Naval Factory was changed so it becomes researchable after landing on Windswept Islands rather than after capturing Ruinous Shores.

The factory gained the ability to produce the Retusa in Build 127. In Build 147 the Retusa’s production parameters were adjusted: its metaglass cost was removed (Metaglass: 25 → 0) and its build time was reduced (50 → 35 seconds), making it faster and cheaper to field.

Operational notes and interactions:

  • The Naval Factory follows the same storage rule as other unit-producing blocks: it can hold up to double the production cost of the unit it produces, allowing partial buffering of required materials and enabling continuous production when supplies are available.
  • Place the factory near water and protected from enemy fire; produced naval units exit into adjacent water tiles and must have a clear path to maneuver.
  • Ensure adequate power and logistics to feed the factory; like other factories, production halts if required items or power are missing.
  • Use research progression (specifically the Windswept Islands milestone) to unlock the factory and its later unit recipes.
