Overview

The Tetrative Reconstructor is a late-game unit production building used to upgrade and manufacture Tier 5 units. It occupies a 9×9 footprint, making it the largest block in the game, and is the culmination of Mindustry’s progressive reconstructor line that names each building after increasingly powerful mathematical operations (tetration follows additive, multiplicative and exponential naming). It was introduced in version 6.0 and later received adjustments, including a health increase in version 7.0. The Tetrative Reconstructor can also convert certain units into higher-tier variants; a specific build added the ability to upgrade Aegires into Navanax.

The block requires very high input throughput to operate effectively. A full production setup for a single Tier 5 unit assumes heavy support buildings running at consistent overdrive. Typical required upstream infrastructure (assuming uniform overdrive) includes: one Silicon Crucible producing 5.3/s, three Plastanium Compressors producing 3/s each, three Surge Smelters at 2.4/s each, three Phase Weavers at 1.5/s each, and an exceptionally large number of Pooled Cryofluid Mixers — commonly cited as 15 — to satisfy the cryofluid demand. Pooled Cryofluid consumption is especially large; Pulse Conduits alone cannot meet the throughput. To reliably feed the Tetrative Reconstructor use Liquid Junctions, Liquid Containers and Liquid Tanks to share and buffer cryofluid with near-infinite throughput. If relying solely on stored cryofluid, upgrading a single unit can require on the order of two dozen full Liquid Tanks.

Practical notes for deployment and operation:

  • Place the Tetrative Reconstructor where large, protected infrastructure can be built around it; its size makes it difficult to place inside cramped bases and exposes a large area to attack. The health increase in later updates improves survivability but proper defense remains essential.
  • Design liquid distribution with high-throughput sharing (junctions/containers/tanks) rather than long conduit chains to avoid bottlenecks in cryofluid supply.
  • Overdrive generators and carefully balanced production chains are required to keep upstream smelters, compressors, crucibles and weavers running at the necessary rates; plan power and item routing accordingly.
  • Expect long lead times even with overdrive: Tier 5 unit manufacture is resource and time intensive. Use stored reservoirs and parallel production lines if you need multiple units quickly.
  • Inventory behavior follows the reconstructor family pattern: the block holds a maximum of double the input item amounts for each required resource rather than a flat large capacity for everything, so plan input buffers to match those limits.

The Tetrative Reconstructor is a high-investment, high-payoff structure intended for players prepared to support its extreme resource and liquid demands to field the game’s most powerful units.
