Spidertron
Overview
Spidertron is a large, player-controllable walking vehicle that functions as a mobile combat and transport platform. It is deployed and boarded like other vehicles and provides significant versatility through its built-in weaponry and an internal equipment grid.
Spidertron moves independently of terrain type and does not consume fuel; movement and combat performance are determined by installed equipment and player interaction.
Spidertron mounts four rocket launchers that operate in chain mode, allowing rapid successive rocket fire at enemies. It can be set to automatically target and engage hostile units whether or not a player is riding it. The vehicle’s equipment grid accepts personal equipment such as energy shields and personal laser defenses; these increase protection and offensive power and stack with any modules the riding player has equipped in their own power armor. Up to five exoskeletons can be installed in the grid to increase movement speed.
Unlike wheeled vehicles,
Spidertron’s speed is unaffected by surface type. Its locomotion causes slight natural fluctuation in speed rather than a constant top value. Because it uses no fuel, the only way to increase its top speed is by equipping exoskeletons in its equipment grid. Typical top speeds are approximately: default ~46 km/h, 1 exoskeleton ~57 km/h, 2 exoskeletons ~68 km/h, 3 exoskeletons ~85 km/h, 4 exoskeletons ~90 km/h, and 5 exoskeletons ~102 km/h.
- Use the equipment grid to tailor
Spidertron to specific roles: install energy shields for survivability, personal laser defenses or other weapon-type equipment for additional offensive output, and exoskeletons to boost mobility. - Automatic targeting can be enabled for hands-off patrols or base defense; remember that automatic fire will use
Spidertron’s onboard weapons and may draw enemy attention. - Equipment bonuses apply in addition to the rider’s personal power armor modules, allowing strong synergies between a well-equipped pilot and the vehicle.
- Because
Spidertron does not use fuel, logistics planning focuses on repairing and rearming rather than refueling. Keep spare ammunition and repair supplies available for sustained operations.
