Overview

Transport Ship Port is a building used to move items between a player’s factory and off-site storage or stations. It functions as a shipping/collection node that interacts with Space Station Requester Warehouse, Sales Warehouse, Construction Ship Port, and modular building construction workflows. Transport Ship Port receives or picks up items placed in certain warehouses and delivers them to connected external locations or returns items brought from those locations into your factory’s storage.

The original Transport Ship Port could be used to import items from the Space Platform directly into the factory. Beginning with Update 2 (Early Access) Galactic Commerce, that import-from-space function was removed. The recommended replacements for shipping or receiving items to/from space are Shipping Pad (Small) or Shipping Pad (Medium), which provide the updated transfer mechanics introduced in the Galactic Commerce update.

Practical interactions and usage notes:

  • Transport Ship Port acts as a delivery/pickup endpoint: it will pick up items left in external locations (for example, items left in a station by Sales Warehouse activity) and deliver them into connected factory storage, or take items from factory storage to deliver outward depending on the specific workflow.
  • Construction materials and modular building workflows: Transport Ship Port will deliver construction items to a modular building site but does not by itself enable the construction action. A Construction Ship Port is required to complete certain construction workflows because the Construction Ship Port manages the actual building/respawn behavior while Transport Ship Port only delivers components.
  • Some items can be sourced via Transport Ship Port interactions with station warehouses. For example, Firmarlite Bar can be obtained by arranging Sales Warehouse deliveries to a station; the Transport Ship Port will collect bars left on the station and drop them into a Space Station Requester Warehouse or other receiving warehouse for extraction.
  • Warehouses intended for use with transport ships should be configured appropriately: set the desired item types in Space Station Requester Warehouse interfaces and ensure the Transport Ship Port has the necessary access to pick up or deposit those items.
  • Stacks and capacity considerations: certain storage items stack to high quantities (notably some construction materials); plan pickup schedules and warehouse capacities so Transport Ship Port transfers do not overflow or block other logistics.

Because the Transport Ship Port’s direct import-from-space capability was removed in Update 2 (Early Access) Galactic Commerce, use Shipping Pad (Small) or Shipping Pad (Medium) for the modern space-to-factory transfer functions and reserve Transport Ship Port for delivery/pickup routes that interact with station-side warehouses and modular construction deliveries.
