Overview

The Prime Refabricator is a late-game reconstructing factory that converts specific input units into their Tier 3 counterparts. It accepts Locus, Cleroi, or Avert units on any side except the single output side and releases the resulting Tier 3 unit as a payload from that output. Functionally it continues the refabricator line: it reconstructs whole units rather than assembling them from raw resources, and it shares storage behavior with other reconstructors and unit factories.

The Prime Refabricator stores up to twice the resources required to create a single unit, allowing production buffering. For the units it handles this corresponds to a storage capacity of 200 Silicon and 80 Thorium, matching the doubled stockpile policy used by reconstructors. It consumes power to operate; its power demand was reduced in a past build (Build 149) from 300 to 270 power units per second.

Practical notes for deployment and operation:

  • Feed Locus, Cleroi, or Avert into any side except the output face. The Prime Refabricator will accept those units and output their Tier 3 reconstructed form as a payload from the output side.
  • Place the output facing conveyors, launchers, or other unit-handling blocks to immediately receive and transfer produced Tier 3 units.
  • Use buffered item routing or dedicated storage to ensure the refabricator has ample Silicon and Thorium; each unit requires the base recipe amounts, and the refabricator can hold up to twice that to smooth production spikes.
  • Because it consumes substantial power even after the power reduction, locate the Prime Refabricator near a reliable power source or pair it with power storage and generation to avoid stalls during production surges.
  • When integrating with automated factories or defense production lines, ensure unit input paths prevent accidental insertion into the output side; units placed into the output face will not be accepted.
