Iron Ore

Iron Ore is one of the core basic natural resources in Dyson Sphere Program. It is found commonly throughout the galaxy and can be harvested and processed on almost any rocky planet. As one of the earliest and most important materials, it serves as the foundation for a large number of higher-tier recipes and is usually one of the first resources a player must secure in quantity.

Iron Ore is mined with the Mining Machine from Iron veins. A single vein can support multiple miners, making dense deposits especially valuable for early expansion and large-scale production. It is smelted into Iron Ingots and Magnets, both of which are heavily used in manufacturing and construction. Because of this, iron supply quickly becomes a bottleneck if mining or smelting capacity is too low.

Each level of the Veins Utilization upgrade increases mining rate by a flat 10% and reduces vein consumption rate by a compounding 6%. This makes the upgrade important for extending the life of iron fields and improving long-term throughput. Players should also keep in mind that Iron Ore is a root resource for many higher-level recipes, so maintaining a healthy stockpile prevents production chains from stalling.
