Overview

The Liquid Router is a routing block that directs liquids along selected outputs to shape fluid flow in mid-to-late game piping networks. It does not create or consume liquids; instead it receives fluid from connected pipes and selectively forwards that fluid to its configured output directions. The router’s behavior prevents blockages when configured and supplied properly, making it a utility piece for managing multiple liquid lines, splitting, or prioritizing destinations such as multiple turrets, cryofluid cooling loops, or parallel crafting modules.

Because a Liquid Router maintains an internal fluid buffer, it prevents incoming flows from becoming clogged by downstream congestion as long as the router already contains some of that fluid. This makes routers particularly useful in setups where crafters both use and produce fluids, or where fluctuating demand could otherwise cause backpressure along shared pipes. Place routers where you need to isolate a consumer from upstream pressure spikes or to ensure steady feed into a machine that draws intermittently.

  • Routers forward only the fluid they contain; ensure the router is initially filled with the correct fluid to avoid temporary misrouting.
  • Use routers to split a single supply into multiple consumers without risking upstream clogging when one branch becomes full or blocked.
  • Position routers before multisource intersections to guarantee that high-priority consumers retain access even during transient surges.
  • Combine routers with pumps and valves when precise timing or pressure control is required; routers stabilize flow but do not actively push fluid.
