When eaten by the player, it grants +25% Movement Speed for 30 minutes, making it a straightforward mobility boost for travel, combat positioning, and general exploration. When consumed by NPCs, it provides +20% Happiness, so it also has value as a morale item in settlements.

Black Coffee has a spoilage time of 2 hours, so it is best used before it expires rather than stored indefinitely. Its nutrition was increased from 10 to 20 in version v. 0.21.14, which made it a more substantial food item alongside its movement bonus.
