Fishing Rod
Overview
The Fishing Rod is the basic tool used to catch fish in Necesse. To fish, the player must hold a Fishing Rod and stand next to a suitable body of water, then left-click toward the water to cast the line. When a fish bites, a silhouette appears and the bob dips down; left-click again at that moment to reel it in and attempt to catch the fish.
Fishing requires water that is far enough from land to count as a valid fishing spot. A suitable body of water must be at least 2 tiles away from land, which means a 5 × 5 pond is the smallest possible fishing area, with only the center tile being valid. Some quest fish, such as 
Fishing power is determined by the Fishing Rod, bait, and any fishing potion currently in use. Bait increases fishing power and is consumed automatically while fishing. The Fishing Potion increases fishing power and adds an extra fishing line, and the 

Fish can also be obtained through a Settlement Angler. An Angler assigned to fishing work in the current settlement can provide fish over time, and the player can also pay to send the 
- Fishing only works when the player is holding the Fishing Rod and casting into valid water.
- Bait is consumed automatically and improves fishing power.
Fishing Potion and Greater Fishing Potion both improve fishing power and increase the number of lines.
- The Depths Catcher adds another line, making multi-catch fishing possible.
- Deep Water is required for some special quest fish, including Baby Shark.
- Settlement Anglers provide an alternate way to obtain fish without manually fishing.
