Glacial Greatsword

Glacial Greatsword is a melee weapon that uses a charge attack rather than a standard swing. It has three charge levels, and each level creates a visual effect around the player while charging. The weapon only performs its attack when it reaches charge level 1, while charging further increases the damage of that attack.

At charge level 2, the attack deals 1.5 times its normal damage, and at charge level 3 it deals 2 times its normal damage. However, the longer charge also takes more time, so the weapon’s damage per second is highest when it is released as soon as it reaches charge level 1. In practice, this makes Glacial Greatsword best used as a quick-charged burst weapon rather than as a fully charged heavy strike.

Glacial Greatsword is crafted at a Tungsten Anvil using:

• 20 Glacial Bar
• 12 Glacial Shard

Because its attack scales with charge time, its effectiveness depends on timing rather than simply holding the attack button as long as possible. Fully charging does increase the damage of a single hit, but that tradeoff is not efficient if the goal is sustained damage. For most combat situations, releasing at the first charge stage gives the best overall output.
