Practical notes on use and interaction:
- Role: Lanterns are carried items intended to supply ambient light. Players equip or hold them to maintain a lit area around their character.
- Tactical difference: Use a
Lantern when you need steady, omnidirectional illumination of your immediate surroundings. Use directed-beam lights when you must light or reveal distant, narrow, or specific targets.
- Positioning: Because the light source moves with the carrier, the illuminated area follows the holder’s movement; this makes Lanterns convenient for navigating dark environments without repeatedly aiming.
- Environment: Lanterns are primarily for close-quarters and general exploration where broad visibility is more valuable than long-range focus.
- Limitations: The
Lantern does not concentrate light into a directional beam and therefore cannot selectively illuminate distant points without also lighting the intervening area.
