Overview
Phase Conveyor is a specialized conveyor-type block that functions like a
Bridge Conveyor but with distinct placement and linking behavior. It transports items across gaps and obstacles without obstructing ground terrain, and it appears in the same transportation category as other advanced conveyors. Mechanically it shares movement speed and item capacity properties with the
Bridge Conveyor; those stats are exposed in the game's core database.
Unlike Bridge Conveyors, Phase Conveyors do not automatically place themselves over obstacles when you drag-place conveyors. When drag-placing a line of Phase Conveyors, the game will attempt to space them out: all but the last conveyor in the dragged line are placed 11 tiles apart if space allows. Phase Conveyors cannot link to Bridge Conveyors and cannot be linked by them; they only form chains with other Phase Conveyors (and other blocks that accept conveyor connections in the usual way).
Practical usage and interactions:
- Use Phase Conveyors to route items across hazardous terrain or where you need conveyors to span long empty sections without occupying the intervening tiles. They behave like bridge-style transport but require manual consideration when laying runs due to spacing behavior.
- Drag-placing long chains will produce regularly spaced conveyors rather than a continuous adjacent line; place the final pieces manually if you need contiguous conveyor runs.
- Phase Conveyors are compatible with overclocking and speed modifiers that affect conveyor throughput. High-throughput setups can chain multiple
Phase Conveyor lanes closely to achieve extreme item flow: twelve interwoven
Phase Conveyor chains can reach a baseline throughput of 372 items/sec, rising to 930 items/sec under an
Overdrive Dome and to 1080 items/sec when affected by a friendly
Navanax EMP. - Because of their inability to connect with Bridge Conveyors, plan networks so
Phase Conveyor segments connect only to blocks that explicitly accept their connections or to other Phase Conveyors.
Phase Conveyors are an advanced routing tool intended for specialized layouts where spanning gaps or avoiding ground placement is required, but they demand extra placement care and network planning compared with ordinary conveyors.
