Overview

Hauling Post is a small workplace building that provides dedicated hauling jobs for Beavers. It appears as a 2×3 building and exists to organize and prioritize haulers within a district so that items are moved efficiently between storage, workplaces, and construction sites. The Hauling Post itself does not store goods; instead it creates a pool of hauler workers who perform hauling tasks across the district according to priorities and task assignment rules.

Place Hauling Posts anywhere inside a district to create hauling jobs for that district. Haulers created by a Hauling Post will respond to tasks such as acquiring or delivering resources for Storage buildings set to Obtain or Supply, workplaces that are prioritised by haulers, and constructions that require haulers to transport consumables. The physical location of most Hauling Posts is usually irrelevant for daily routing because haulers do not need to return to their post except when they are idle.

Proper management of Hauling Posts keeps a settlement moving smoothly when population or task load fluctuates. If a district ends up with no haulers employed, affected buildings will produce an Out of Haulers' Range alert for all Storage buildings set to Obtain or Supply, all workplaces set to Prioritise by Haulers, and all Constructions requiring haulers to bring consumables. To avoid that, keep at least one Hauling Post active in an established district.

  • Set Hauling Post work priorities to control how many haulers are active compared with other jobs. When population is low, set most Hauling Posts to low priority and keep one at high (but not highest) so hauling capacity degrades gracefully rather than collapsing completely.
  • When worker counts are very low, add jobs at low priority anyway; new Beavers will immediately fill hauling positions and begin contributing without disrupting higher-priority tasks.
  • Hauling Posts are primarily a jobs/assignment tool; optimize storage placement and road layout for shorter routes rather than clustering Hauling Posts for routing benefits.
  • Monitor district alerts for Out of Haulers' Range to catch sudden drops in hauling coverage (for example after population loss or when redistributing workplace priorities).

Hauling Post was adjusted during development and is implemented as a 2×3 building.
