Overview

The Badwater Rig is a specialized water-building that extracts Badwater from a Badwater Source. It must be constructed directly on top of a Badwater Source and functions as the primary means of collecting Badwater for use with Badwater Caps and other contaminated-water mechanics.

Construction requires 400 Gears, 200 Treated Planks, and 150 Metal Blocks. Gears are produced at the Gear Workshop, Treated Planks at the Wood Workshop, and Metal Blocks at the Smelter. Builders commonly create stair access to sources while constructing the rig; care must be taken because beavers can accidentally step into the Badwater during construction and become contaminated.

The Badwater Rig’s output scales with the number of assigned workers. One worker takes 10 hours to harvest 40 Badwater. The UI updates the displayed production time as more beavers are assigned; with the full complement of 10 beavers, the rig produces 40 Badwater per hour (i.e., 1 hour total). The rig continues to produce Badwater during droughts as long as it remains open and staffed.

  • The rig must be placed on a Badwater Source tile; it cannot be built elsewhere.
  • Avoid creating direct paths from common travel routes into the source during construction to prevent accidental contamination of beavers.
  • Staffing the rig with increasing numbers of beavers reduces the per-unit production time linearly up to the maximum; plan worker allocation accordingly to match demand for Badwater Caps or other contaminated-water uses.
  • The Badwater Rig is categorized under water buildings and associated with Badwater Caps production chains.
