Quill Spear
Overview
The Quill Spear is a throwable and melee-capable spear that blends traditional thrust attacks with a ranged volley mechanic. Its design is inspired by Exor technologies and it can load and discharge a short barrage of lethal quills; it functions as a hybrid weapon that sits between a melee spear and a light projectile launcher in the game's arsenal. Visually the weapon has distinct animations for a normal stab and for shooting/reloading when quills are fired.
The Quill Spear uses Seeker Quills as ammunition, the same ammo type used by the Quill Rifle. Its alternate fire consumes five units of ammunition to launch five individual projectiles in a single salvo. If every projectile connects, the combined effect deals 150 sharp damage. The standard melee stab remains available for close-quarters use and does not consume quills.
Practical notes and interactions:
- Ammo and firing: alternate fire requires exactly five Seeker Quills per salvo and produces five separate projectiles; damage is distributed across those projectiles rather than delivered as a single hit.
- Melee vs ranged: use the normal stab for precise single-target melee engagements or when conserving ammo; use the salvo when engaging groups or when higher total damage is needed at range.
- Equipment restrictions: the alternate (salvo) attack is disabled while a Shield or any Off‑Hand Weapon is equipped, so you must unequip shields/off-hand items to use the ranged volley.
- Role and synergy: the Quill Spear serves well as a mid-range harassment tool that complements other rapid-fire quill weapons; carry extra Seeker Quills to sustain volley use, and pair with weapons that capitalize on interrupting or staggering enemies after the salvo.
- Animation cues: the weapon has distinct animations for stabbing and for firing/reloading the quills; timing the reload animation helps avoid being caught vulnerable after an empty salvo.
The Quill Spear is therefore best used by players who want a flexible weapon capable of switching between melee precision and bursty mid-range damage, provided they manage
