Space Lettuce

Space Lettuce is a rare consumable/plantable item described in-game as "psychedelic greens." It functions both as a salvageable loot item found in specific high-value locations and as a seedable crop: when placed in a Garden Plot it grows into additional Space Lettuce. The item is primarily obtained by salvaging Space Lettuce at a Repair and Salvage Station, and also appears as discrete world loot in several fixed locations across the map.

Space Lettuce spawn points include multiple indoor and outdoor sites across Cascade Laboratories, the Security Sector, and the Hydroplant. In Cascade Laboratories a unit is located in one of the cells around the elevator, accessible only after disabling the turrets in the Control Center. A separate Ordo cell on the 5th floor contains Space Lettuce but that cell must be opened by resetting the security system. In the Security Sector it can be found under a metal shelf inside one of the warehouses and specifically on the upper floor of Storage Unit C—the first storage room on the left after the gate. The Hydroplant contains Space Lettuce outside the Hydroplant Building inside a dumpster near some containers, and in a broken tower next to the bot under rubble at the top behind a box. One high-access spawn sits at the top of a watchtower on the bridge guarded by Defense Robots; reaching this cache requires a Keypad ACH_HACKERMAN (Tier 5) to bypass the lock.

Practical use and cultivation:

• Planting: Space Lettuce can be planted in a Garden Plot to produce more Space Lettuce rather than being a one-off consumable. This makes it valuable for self-sustaining supplies or trade if you retain a plot.
• Regrowth behavior: When harvested from a Garden Plot, the plant does not need to be replanted. Harvesting resets the plant to a growth stage of 5/5, so it only needs to complete one growth cycle to become harvestable again rather than starting from seed. This makes established Space Lettuce plots efficient long-term sources.
• Salvage and retrieval: Salvage at a Repair and Salvage Station is the reliable recovery method if you find Space Lettuce as debris or wreckage. Check the listed fixed-location containers first if you are actively searching for seed stock.
• Access requirements: Several spawns are behind environmental hazards or security systems (turrets, locked Ordo cells, gates, Defense Robots). Plan for turret disablement, security resets, gate access, or acquiring a Keypad ACH_HACKERMAN (Tier 5) for the watchtower cache.
• Role in the economy: Because of its regrowth advantage and multiple fixed spawns, Space Lettuce is efficient to farm and can serve as a renewable consumable or commodity for trade in settlements that value plant-based or recreational items.

Space Lettuce’s distinct psychedelic description and regenerative planting behavior make it a niche but repeatable resource for players who invest in garden infrastructure and the tools needed to reach secured spawn locations.
