Water Filter

Water Filter is an item used to purify contaminated liquids by converting Tainted Water into clean Water. It is designed to sit on top of a Barrel and process the liquid stored there; visually and mechanically it attaches to a barrel lid and operates as a passive purifier for the barrel’s contents.

The Water Filter converts Tainted Water into Water at a 1:1 ratio with no delay in conversion. It does not act as a standalone container: you cannot pour liquids into it from your inventory or fill it directly from a source. Instead, you must deploy the Water Filter on a Barrel (or compatible container) and transfer liquids between containers—then the filter will purify the barrel’s liquid automatically. The filter can process an effectively infinite supply of Tainted Water as long as Tainted Water is supplied to the Barrel, producing a continuous output of clean Water.

Practical usage and interactions:

• Place the Water Filter on top of a Barrel to enable purification of whatever liquid the Barrel contains; it is specifically designed to fit barrel-style containers.
• Transfer Tainted Water into the Barrel from other liquid containers; the filter will immediately convert it to Water at a 1:1 rate.
• You cannot fill the Water Filter directly from inventory items or from environmental sources; it requires container-to-container transfer after deployment.
• Because the filter can process unlimited amounts, it is ideal for providing a steady domestic or base supply of Water without needing to rely on nearby natural clean water sources.
• For remote bases far from clean water, deploy a crafting bench or other structure with a synchronized personal teleporter near a Tainted Water source so players can rapidly fetch and return Tainted Water to the base Barrels for purification.
• Use multiple Barrels fitted with Water Filters to scale throughput or to keep separate stocks (for example, storing purified water for different purposes).

The Water Filter is a straightforward, permanent solution for converting contaminated liquid resources into usable Water when integrated with barrel-based storage and transport workflows.
