It is described as a less technologically advanced solution to an everyday problem and functions as an alternative to standard facility toilets. The Makeshift Toilet occupies the same practical space as other latrines in a base but is distinguished by its ability to convert routine use into a raw resource for crafting.

When a player character uses the Makeshift Toilet while they have the Toilet Required continence status or any lower continence status, the receptacle beneath the seat produces one Bag of Feces automatically. This output does not require Plastic Scrap or any additional material, which gives the Makeshift Toilet a practical advantage over normal facility toilets when the goal is to obtain fecal material. Because Bag of Feces is an input for Soil Bags, the Makeshift Toilet becomes a key component in any production chain that relies on soil or compost-related crafting.

Practical notes and strategy:

• Use the Makeshift Toilet in outposts or early bases where high-tech plumbing is unavailable; it provides immediate sanitation plus a steady supply of Bag of Feces without extra consumables.
• Ensure characters who will use it are allowed to reach and interact with the object while in the Toilet Required continence state or lower; only under that condition does it generate a Bag of Feces on use.
• Position the Makeshift Toilet near crafting stations that consume Bag of Feces (such as Soil Bag production) to minimize hauling time and streamline resource flow.
• The Makeshift Toilet is functionally simpler than facility toilets and should be treated primarily as a resource generator rather than a comfort upgrade; prioritize placement based on logistics rather than aesthetics.
• Regular use by multiple characters produces a predictable supply of feces bags; factor this into stockpiling and crafting schedules to maintain continuous Soil Bag production.
