A basic clock indicating normal time.

Overview

The Alarm Clock is a basic timekeeping item that displays normal in-game time and functions as a small plug-in clock. It appears as a commonplace decorative clock in multiple areas and can interact with powered devices when connected by its power cord.

The Alarm Clock is used to toggle power on and off for any device connected to the same power cord side; its switching effect can control one or several appliances when intermediary items such as a Plug Strip or Plug Board are used to chain connections. Time displayed by the Alarm Clock advances in minute increments that are shorter than real time minutes but remain synchronized with the player’s Wristwatch every ten in-game minutes.

Alarm Clocks are commonly found scattered across multiple levels and zones. Notable spawn locations include:

  • Office Sector: found above a wall in Biolabs D (Level 2); in offices between Silo 2 Lounge and Physics Lab D and in an office containing a Dr. Manse Hologram and a Medkit (Level 3).
  • Cascade Laboratories: in the Containment area Assessment room and near the Tram station, near bathrooms in the Lobby, and in upstairs rooms off the Lobby (Level 2); on Adjustment’s second floor in a green-lit room near an elevator, inside an office with a dead body, and inside a room patrolled by a Captain (Level 3).
  • Reactors: multiple Alarm Clocks appear throughout Reactor areas, particularly in Mist and Dusk Reactors.
  • Fragments/other interiors: on or above office desks with drawers near a Dr. Manse Hologram, inside the cafeteria building, and in the Botanical Wing.

Practical notes and interaction tips:

  • Use the Alarm Clock as a simple on/off controller for circuits that accept a powered plug connection; routing its cord through a Plug Strip or Plug Board lets one Alarm Clock control several devices simultaneously.
  • The clock’s timekeeping is reliable for synchronizing with the Wristwatch at 10-minute intervals, but individual minute ticks do not match the Wristwatch’s tick length.
  • Because many Alarm Clocks appear in offices and lab rooms, they are useful for setting up local power control or for environmental flavor when scavenging or planning routes.
  • The Alarm Clock’s primary role is functional rather than combat-oriented; treat it as a utility item for managing power-dependent setups.
