Office Sector

The Office Sector is a three-floor section of GATE’s Cascade Research Facility, positioned between Cascade Laboratories and Manufacturing West. By the time the player reaches it, the area is largely empty of people, with only a handful of survivors who are stranded there or have chosen to remain. Several sections are locked off initially and must be opened from elsewhere, making the Office Sector both a hub and a gatekeeper for progression into other parts of the facility.

According to the GATE compendium entry, the Office Sector serves as the facility’s main center of administration and includes 12 levels as well as several repurposed silos. These former gas, water, and ore storage spaces now house key perforation systems, which helps explain why the area connects to so many other sectors through trams, elevators, and locked access routes.

Level 1 centers on the cafeteria and plaza. The cafeteria is the starting area for this sector and is relatively safe and spacious, with multiple vending machines and other amenities. The plaza is the main open space beyond it; it is usually safe during the day, but a Security Bot patrols there at night. Warren’s security checkpoint also contains a Charging Station and a button used to reset Platform Carts. A Homeworld Room branches off from the plaza and is unlocked with a Keypad Hacker, while the Server Room sits nearby off the main path, separated by glass walls and filled with servers and a hologram.

Level 2 is more utility-focused. The Data Farm is a large computer-filled area and a good place to gather components such as Coils and Circuit Boards. It also contains a Security Bot, a Charging Station, and a kitchen with a Slushie Machine. Other notable rooms on this floor include the Gym, which has a large pool that can serve as a Tainted Water source; Bio Lab D, which provides gardening supplies such as Soil Bags, Hoses, and Tomato Seeds; Executive Offices, which require a Tier 2 Keypad Hacker; and the Security Office, where a firing range and a Security Pack can be found.

Level 3 provides access to major destinations beyond the Office Sector. Silo 2 leads to Far Garden, Silo 3 leads to Flathill, and Physics Lab D contains a GATE Security Crate. A tram terminal behind locked doors near the reception desk also connects this level to the Residence Sector. Another tram in the Data Farm on Level 2 connects to Power Services in the Reactors, while the plaza contains multiple trams linking to other major facilities.

• The Office Sector contains several useful amenities spread across its floors, including vending machines, bathrooms, kitchen stoves, and multiple Charging Stations.
• Security Bot patrols are found on Level 1 at the plaza, on Level 2 in the Data Farm, on the Manufacturing West entrance, and on Level 3 by the Silo 3 viewing area.
• The Level 1 map is outdated in several places, including mislabeled connections and incorrectly placed rooms.
• NPCs present in the sector include Ulrich Thule, Jager, Warren Bunning, Alice Hong, Grayson, Gaz, Roberts, Moira Shepherd, Steven Stewart, Regal, Alice Mayfield, Unknown Militant, Abe Stern, and Janet Ross.
