Overview

The Office Sector is the administration and management hub of the GATE Cascade Research Facility. It functions as the facility's main center of administration and contains a mix of office blocks, repurposed silos, public amenities and transit terminals that connect to other facility sectors. Official compendium material describes the Office Sector as comprising twelve levels and several large storage silos once used for gas, water and ore; the in-game area players encounter is structured as a three-floor section linking Cascade Laboratories and Manufacturing West and includes multiple locked areas and repurposed spaces such as data farms and bio labs.

The ground floor (Level 1) opens into the cafeteria and a central plaza with a fountain; the plaza is the nexus for most tram terminals and includes a Charging Station and a platform-cart reset button near Warren's security checkpoint. A Homeworld Room is accessible from the plaza when unlocked with a Keypad ACH_HACKERMAN and contains the portal entrances to Homeworlds. Adjacent offices include a glass-walled Server Room and various administrative corridors. Level 2 houses a large Data Farm — useful for farming electronic components — a gym with a pool that serves as a Tainted Water source, Bio Lab D with gardening supplies, security offices with a firing range and an Executive Offices area unlocked with a higher-tier Keypad ACH_HACKERMAN. Level 3 provides access to multiple silos (Silo 2 to Far Garden, Silo 3 to Flathill) and specialized labs such as Physics Lab D.

The Office Sector integrates into facility transit via multiple tram terminals concentrated in the Level 1 plaza: the red tram to The Blacksmith's Foundry (Manufacturing West), a second red tram to the dig site and Train portal, a purple tram to the Cascade Laboratories aquariums (with a second stop in the Containment Block), and a yellow tram that circumnavigates toward the Hydroplant. A fifth tram terminal on Level 2 connects to Power Services in the Reactors, while a sixth terminal behind locked reception doors links to the Residence Sector.

NPCs are distributed throughout floors and include Ulrich Thule, Jager and Warren Bunning on Level 1; Alice Hong, Grayson, Gaz, Roberts, Moira Shepherd and Steven Stewart on Level 2; and Regal, Alice Mayfield, an Unknown Militant, Abe Stern and Janet Ross on Level 3. Hostile encounters in the sector may include Carbuncle, Exor Monk, Lab Rat, Peccary, Plague and Security Bot units. Security Robots patrol the plaza (Level 1), the data farm (Level 2), the Manufacturing West entrance (Level 2) and near the Silo 3 viewing area (Level 3).

Practical notes for players:

  • The plaza is relatively safe during daytime and is the primary hub for trams, but expect a Security Robot on night patrol.
  • The Data Farm is the best location for farming coils and circuit boards and contains a Slushie Machine plus a Charging Station.
  • Use Keypad ACH_HACKERMAN devices to unlock the Homeworld Room and higher-tier Executive Offices.
  • Multiple vending machines, charging stations and water sources are placed across floors; the gym pool provides a reliable Tainted Water source.
  • Loot-bag fail-safes can cause death drops to appear in the plaza rather than the exact death location when the game detects inaccessible terrain.
  • The Level 1 map contains outdated elements; be prepared for discrepancies between map icons and actual connections to Cascade Laboratories and Manufacturing East.
