Frying Pan
Overview
The Frying Pan is a small throwable/interactable item that exists as both a mundane kitchen tool (in‑game description: used primarily for frying food) and as an environmental launch device that interacts with players, NPCs, and vehicles. It appears scattered across multiple outdoor and indoor areas on several maps and functions as a physics object that can propel characters and entities into the air when used or when an entity collides with it.
The item’s culinary description reads simply that it is used to fry food. In gameplay terms the Frying Pan functions like a jump pad: it launches player characters and other Entities upward. Despite the height of the launch, players do not receive fall damage or suffer broken legs if they land back on the same elevation from which they were launched; fall damage and leg injuries only occur if the landing is on a lower level. The Frying Pan can launch all vehicles (including all variant types, Forklifts, and GATE SUVs) and can bounce enemies that are human-sized or smaller.
- Known spawn locations include entrances and open areas across multiple map regions: the Old Mines (entrance near mine carts and elsewhere in the Old Mines area), the Mapping Center (near the two Snipers), the Digging Site (near Sarah Frake and Douglas), the small building by the Synchrotron exit, the Tram station, the connecting hallway to the Office Sector in Cascade Laboratories, the Cloud Reactor entrance open area, cave entrances in
Voussoir (including spots near three soldiers and near the ski lift building), and inside the Office Sector on Level 2 (authorized personnel room near the elevator) and on Level 3 (outside Physics Lab D in the electrified area).
- One source lists the Frying Pan as only being found in
Dunkeltaler Forest. This conflicts with other location lists; consult the current map spawns in your play session to confirm availability.
Practical usage and interactions:
- Use the Frying Pan as an improvised launchpad to reach higher platforms or bypass obstacles when pad or jump mechanics are needed. Because landing at the same level negates fall damage, the pan is safe for vertical traversal within the same plane.
- The Frying Pan can be used to fling vehicles and vehicle-mounted players to reach ledges or to reposition vehicles. Test launches first when using vehicles to avoid unintended drops to lower elevations that cause damage.
- Against enemies, the Frying Pan will reliably bounce human-sized or smaller foes; use it to disrupt patrols or create crowd-control opportunities, but do not expect it to affect larger creatures.
- Because spawn lists vary by region and some references disagree on where the item appears, check known hot spots (tram, mines, reactor entrances, Office Sector hallways) when searching. If a session or build restricts spawns to a specific map such as
Dunkeltaler Forest, expect the Frying Pan to be localized there.
The Frying Pan combines a simple descriptive role as cookware with a useful physics-based gameplay function, making it valuable for mobility, vehicle tricks, and nonlethal disruption of smaller opponents.
