Official description

The creature widely referred to as the Exor demonstrates many unexplained behaviours.

IS-0184-A has been observed in the wild by TR teams on several occasions gathering in small groups centered around a single IS-0184-B, in a posture described variously as 'supplication' or 'abeyance'.

Although no comparative recordings exist, researchers have noted that under these circumstances both IS-0184-A and IS-0184-B emanate a series of modulated frequencies that are not heard at any other time.

DESIGNATION: Crucis (AG/EN/IN)

CONTAINMENT PROTOCOLS: All containment facilities for IS-0184-A require Grade 4 impact shielding and/or Grade 5 blast dampening in accordance with GISP ratings. All personnel conducting research on this subject must wear Grade 4 body armor with full electrical grounding, even when subject is sedated or unconscious. Direct interaction in any state is not advised.

IS-0184-A should not be exposed to any flammable materials. Feed remotely.

A bipedal hunter with a sophisticated bio-electric defence adaptation, the Exor was first discovered in 1987 by Dr. Lenora Riggs.

Overview

The Exor is a bipedal predator noted for a sophisticated bio-electric defensive adaptation and unusual social behaviours. It is larger than the related Exor Monk and is physically distinct: Exors have more dorsal quills, prominent pink bioluminescence behind the head plus extensive bright green bioluminescent streaking across the body, and large glowing bulbous growths. Exors carry a specialized quill arm as a weapon and lack the decorative paint and equipment sometimes seen on Exor Monks. The species was first documented in 1987 by Dr. Lenora Riggs.

Exors have been observed both alone and in small groups. Field teams recorded groups of IS-0184-A animals forming around a single IS-0184-B in postures described as supplication or abeyance; during those gatherings both IS-0184-A and IS-0184-B emit distinctive modulated frequencies that are not heard at other times. Exors are hostile to Order soldiers, robots, and players.

In combat an Exor will use its Quill Arm to burst-fire a sequence of 4–6 shots at a target, and will dodge and switch to melee when appropriate. Its ranged bursts can deal substantial damage to players who remain stationary, and many of its attacks inflict bleeding. Melee strikes are also powerful; players should avoid or block close-range engagements. Exors remain dangerous even without any teleport ability that some related variants possess. They are more vulnerable to electrical weapons than to some other damage types.

Containment protocols in the GATE compendium designate IS-0184-A as Crucis (AG/EN/IN). Facilities that hold Exors require Grade 4 impact shielding and/or Grade 5 blast dampening per GISP standards. Personnel working with live or sedated specimens must wear Grade 4 body armor with full electrical grounding; direct interaction is not advised. Exors must not be exposed to flammable materials and must be fed remotely.

Common harvestable drops from Exors:

Practical notes and tactics:

  • Keep moving during ranged encounters to avoid full quill-burst damage; strafing reduces the chance of taking a full burst.
  • Prioritize electrical weaponry when available to exploit their weakness.
  • Maintain distance and use cover against groups; multiple Exors or mixed hostile entities can quickly overwhelm a single player.
  • When closing to melee, be prepared to block bleeding and strong physical strikes or to disengage if the Exor begins to dodge and counterattack.
  • Bodies of Exors have been found in Cascade Laboratories and earlier within the Office Sector and Manufacturing West, indicating locations where players may encounter or loot them.
