Overview

Big Hive Larva is a larger variant of the Hive Larva, and it has a noticeably larger health pool than the standard form. It is one of the larval organisms associated with the Hive, and the GATE Compendium describes these creatures as part of a broader hive entity whose members are believed to communicate mainly through scent and other olfactory cues. The compendium also notes that the organisms may eventually form the structure of the hive itself.

Like the other Hive larvae, Big Hive Larva is linked to the area of the Facility where the Hive has intersected with the older, defunct mining region. The compendium entry groups the related organisms as a range of forms presumed to originate from Anteverse 299, and presents them as under-researched creatures whose intelligence and full life cycle are still not fully understood.

In combat, the main practical difference is durability: Big Hive Larva can absorb more punishment than a normal Hive Larva, so it takes longer to bring down and is more likely to survive brief or partial engagements. Treat it as a tougher version of the same threat rather than a different combat role.

Defeating Big Hive Larva can yield:

Because it is a larger and tougher variant, it is worth approaching with the same caution you would use for other Hive creatures, especially when several are present together. Focus on eliminating it quickly if you are already committed to a fight, since its extra health makes it more dangerous in prolonged melee exchanges.
