Bogman

DESIGNATION: Pending
CONTAINMENT PROTOCOLS: Containment protocols for these aggresive, semi-amphibious creatures are currently under review, but they are believed to have a sensivity to subsonic sound.
While not yet an official designation, IS-0422 was discovered by Dr. Lenora Riggs in Anteverse 168.
The precise origins and evolution of IS-0422 are not yet understood, although Dr. Riggs theorizes that their presence in 168 may be connected to the Lodestone. If not endemic, their home anteverse is, at this stage, unknown.
Overview
Bogman is a hostile, semi-amphibious creature found primarily wandering the Marshlands of

Bogman is a hulking humanoid covered in moss, woody plant growth, and patches of red flesh. It has no obvious facial features beyond two yellow eyes set deep in its head. In combat it is fast, durable, and relentless, and multiple Bogmen can overwhelm an unprepared player by forcing them into bad positioning.
Its attacks include:
- Leaping Swipes, a lunging melee attack
- Claw, a close-range arm swipe
- Snare Trap, in which it digs its hands into the ground to entangle the player in damaging vines that also immobilize them
- Burrow, which lets it dive underground and reposition to another location
Bogmen are especially dangerous because they can pin players in place and then keep pressure on them while other Bogmen close in. Their Burrow ability makes them hard to track once they disengage. The compendium notes a sensitivity to subsonic sound, and combat guidance points to fire-based weapons as an effective way to exploit a weakness.
Practical notes:
- Keep moving in the Marshlands, especially when more than one Bogman is present.
- Avoid getting caught by Snare Trap, since the vines can leave you exposed to follow-up attacks.
- Fire-based weapons are effective against them.
- Staying mobile in the open bog helps with avoiding entangling roots while you continue to attack.
- Their shots and attacks can be interrupted at times, so sustained pressure can help finish them off safely.
Bogmen can drop
