Larva

Hive Larva are small hive organisms found wandering slowly through the tunnels around IS-1076, in the facility’s older and defunct mining region. They become aggressive as soon as they spot a scientist and will immediately move to attack. The GATE Compendium describes them as one of several related larval organisms, presumed to originate from Anteverse 299, and suggests that they communicate largely through scent and other olfactory cues. Their exact intelligence remains unconfirmed, and the compendium also notes that part of their hive appears to have intersected the area after the facility’s perforation network destabilized.

In combat, Hive Larva are mostly non-threatening and can usually be killed with one or two hits anywhere on the body. Because they are small and can be awkward to hit, aiming for the face deals more damage and kills them faster. Fire-based weapons such as the Thermal Mallet are especially effective against them.

• Harvestable drops include Raw Larva Meat at a 50% chance.
• They can also drop a Larva Figurine at a 2% chance.
• Their small size makes them easy to overlook in tunnels, so they should be engaged quickly once spotted.
• Since they rush the player on sight, ranged or fire weapons help reduce the chance of being swarmed.
