Leyak
DESIGNATION: Crucis (AG/AV)
CONTAINMENT PROTOCOL: IS-0091 is to be subject at all times to an electromagnetic field with photon energies ranging from 100 eV to 100 keV - roughly coterminous with the x-ray spectrum. The subject must be identified hourly, and that observation recorded in the subject's daybook. Anyone viewing or perceiving IS-0091 under any other conditions should stare directly at the creature until it vanishes, then report the encounter IMMEDIATELY to Security staff.
A transcorporeal creature of uncertain origins, the 'Leyak' was discovered in Indonesia by a GATE TransRecon team led by Dr. Lenora Riggs.
The entity focuses its attention on a single person until observed for a given length of time, whereupon it vanishes, reappearing elsewhere and commencing its search again. IS-0091's only weakness appears to be high-energy EM, such as x-rays.
Overview
Leyak is a hostile transcorporeal entity designated IS-0091 in the GATE Compendium. It appears as a mass of flesh resembling a reddish, skull-like head with three eyes, black hair hanging from the scalp, a partial spine and ribs, white tendrils, and a large pair of lungs. It hovers rather than walking, and it is strongly associated with x-ray-spectrum electromagnetic fields.
Leyak focuses on a single target at a time and will generally remain oriented toward that player, even when not in direct line of sight, unless it is being observed. It moves only when the target is not watching it directly or is beyond a certain distance, and even slight obstruction can be enough to let it advance. It can open unlocked doors, and it can pass through player-placed deployables and doors even when they are closed or locked, but it cannot pass through walls. While active, it emits short sighing or moaning vocalizations.
The creature is repelled by X-Ray Towers, X-Ray Lamps, and their OX variants, which also cause it to drop
Leyak cannot be damaged by conventional means and reappears every 7.5 in-game hours, or about 15 minutes of real time. Its appearance rate increases for players who consume Greyeb, Greyeb Chowder, or Cosmato Salad Wrap, eventually rising to once per in-game hour. The creature seems to remain focused on one victim for a long time before changing targets, and it switches targets if its current target enters a portal world or dies. Equipping the
If Leyak appears while its target is asleep, a pixelated version of the creature manifests in the dream minigame and eventually catches up to the target, waking them. This dream version moves according to the distance between the dream and real-world creature.
Leyak can be contained in

The creature is based on the Balinese folklore entity of the same name. Its appearance and associated death message connect it to Rangda, the demon queen of Leyaks, and the compendium entry states that it was discovered in Indonesia by a GATE TransRecon team led by Dr. Lenora Riggs.
