Overview

Krasue is an IS-0091-B anomalous creature designated Crucis (AG/IV). It is classified as an extremophile theorized to originate in a frigid environment and is notable for significantly altering local temperature gradients where it manifests. Krasue is visible only to a single target at any given time and shares a superficial behavioral heritage with a related Leyak-class entity, but it differs in several important mechanical and containment characteristics.

All containment facilities for Krasue require vacuum-grade insulation and continuous high-energy electromagnetic irradiation with a hardened failsafe backup power connection. Personnel entering Krasue containment must wear Grade 4 low-temperature protective clothing. Approved study of Krasue is restricted to a single designated researcher. In the event of containment breach or failure, the active researcher must maintain direct visual contact until Krasue desubstantiates, then notify Gatekeeper personnel. Krasue is more resistant than IS-0091-A to EM energies and requires frequencies above 100 keV to force desubstantiation.

Krasue’s in-field behavior and interactions:

  • Krasue targets only one person at a time and is visible exclusively to that target while targeting them. It will often continue targeting the same player for extended periods and will switch targets only if the current target enters a portal world, is killed, or otherwise becomes unavailable.
  • Krasue appears only when the player is in a freezing state (examples: Server Room in the Office Sector, Cold Storage in Laboratories, the Residences sector, immediately after exiting freezing portal worlds such as Voussoir, or during a Cold Snap).
  • While observing a player, Krasue applies a progressive Gaze debuff: after 10 seconds of uninterrupted line of sight the player receives the Frosted status, which freezes them in place for 5 seconds.
  • Krasue moves only when not in the direct line of sight or if the target is beyond a certain distance. She cannot pass through solid walls but can move through open doors and player-placed deployables; she cannot kick doors open. Placing a Deployable Object to prevent a door from fully opening will stop her movement through that doorway.
  • The entity emits short vocalizations resembling sighs or moans while active.

Countermeasures and containment devices:

  • Krasue can be repelled by the OX Lamp or OX Tower; repulsion yields Frozen Essence as a drop. Staring directly and unobstructed at Krasue will force her to de-manifest after approximately 5 seconds; note that doors, windows, and fences do not count as unobstructed stare-blocking.
  • Krasue can be contained using Containment Unit: 91. To capture her, lure Krasue into the unit and then blast her with an OX Lamp or OX Tower; a successful capture displays her inside the unit. The containment must remain powered and regularly refueled with Vial of Milk. The unit shows two blue containment bars with multiple segments; one segment depletes each in-game day. A fully fueled Containment Unit: 91 lasts one in-game week. Each Vial of Milk adds half of the maximum containment, so two vials are required to fully fuel an empty unit. Frozen Essence is produced by the unit each morning at 6:00 AM via the containment chute.

Practical notes and lore:

  • Krasue’s physical presence actively cools its surroundings and can create hazardous freezing conditions for unprepared personnel.
  • The creature is named after the Southeast Asian folklore figure of similar appearance and behavior; within the game it is one of two Leyak variations, the other being contained at the Leaf Facility.
  • In-game flavor references include the Kylie trinket possibly saying "Did you feel her?" when Krasue appears, echoing regional myths of familial Leyak figures.
  • Visuals: Krasue appears in the Sleeping Minigame and can be encountered in Hydroplant shortly after a player exits Voussoir.
