Overview

Nyth, listed in the GATE compendium as Nyth the Gluttonous (A299-E), is a large, uncontained gelatinous gastropodal creature believed to have originated from Anteverse 299. It and portions of its hive have manifested in the abandoned mine networks of the GATE Cascade Research Facility following recent perforation events. The organism appears disoriented on manifestation, displays an obsessive drive to consume, and features a notable protrusion on the frontal region of its skull.

Nyth moves through tunnel systems by crawling and deals contact damage to players who touch it. It typically follows the same route repeatedly until provoked or disturbed. Combat against Nyth focuses on destroying a central vulnerable organ referred to as its core. Repeated damage to the core forces Nyth to burrow and transition into the next combat stage; Nyth cycles through a total of three stages before it can be permanently defeated. During these stage changes its movement and attack patterns alter. Nyth does not trigger tripmines.

  • Behavior and combat: target Nyth’s core and sustain consistent damage to advance stages. Expect pattern changes after each burrow and emergence; learn timing and movement routes to avoid contact damage.
  • Loot and rewards: defeating Nyth unlocks the Hive Larva Suit recipe if the player has not already obtained it. Guaranteed and chance drops recorded for Nyth include:
    • Core Fragment — appears in multiple quantities (table data indicates guaranteed and chance-based stacks: 100% of 3 and 50% of 3–4 as listed).
    • Raw Hive Larva Meat — likewise shown with both guaranteed and variable stacks (100% of 6 and 50% of 6–9 as listed).
    • Hive Larva Figurine100% drop.
  • Tactical notes: since Nyth follows set tunnel paths until disturbed, luring or baiting it into prepared kill zones is effective. Because it does not trigger tripmines, use area-control tools or direct damage focused on the core rather than relying on tripmine traps. Learn the three-stage cycle to anticipate burrowing and adapt positioning during each emergence.

A pre-1.0 render of Nyth exists in the compendium media illustrating its appearance prior to final updates.
