The Encroachment
Known but unmapped, Anteverse 299 has previously been visited by TransRecon Team 7, who judged the location hostile and requested more probe-based research before further expeditions could safely proceed.
Populated by a plethora of varied larval, troglyditic, cancrine, gelatinous, crystalline, fungal, vermicular and semi-sentient biomechanical entities, Anteverse 299 is a realm to be 'treated with great respect', in the words of Dr. Derek Manse.
Precisely how a significant piece of this realm ended up embedded in the depths of the GATE Cascade Research Facility remains unknown, and the threat of further regional replacements weighs heavily on the minds of many researchers.
Overview
The Encroachment is a crossover location added in the 0.10.0.15175 Major Update: Dark Energy. It is themed after Core Keeper and closely resembles that game’s larva hive sub-biome, sharing a similar look, enemy roster, and overall atmosphere while also including references to other locations.
In-game, The Encroachment can be found in the mines, past and to the right of one of the pumps that must be repaired to activate the Synchrotron. The area is a hostile anteverse known as Anteverse 299 in GATE’s compendium, and it was previously surveyed by TransRecon Team 7, who recommended further probe-based research before any expedition could safely continue. The entry describes it as populated by a wide variety of larval, troglyditic, cancrine, gelatinous, crystalline, fungal, vermicular, and semi-sentient biomechanical entities, and notes that researchers consider it a place to treat with great respect.
The zone is dimly lit and contains yellow-orange patches that heavily slow the player. It also has multiple power sources and possible base locations, but it is still a dangerous place to establish anything near the path of

- Common enemies include
Larva,
Hive Larva,
Big Larva,
Big Hive Larva, and Nyth the Gluttonous.
- Bring a strong light source before exploring; visibility is poor throughout the area.
- Be careful when moving over the yellow-orange ground patches, as they apply a severe movement slowdown.
- The area can serve as a temporary base site, but its enemy density and Nyth’s route make long-term construction risky.
- Although it is an encroaching anteverse, it does not count as a portal world, so items found here do not respawn when portal worlds reset.
