Craggy and malformed, this region of Anteverse 2 is little more than a mass of rock orbiting a ‘sun’ that is no sun at all - rather a vacuum point slowly sucking everything towards it.

Much closer to it's 'star' than Anteverse 2A, the tidal forces generate tremendous heat, producing tributaries of superheated magma that restrict the growth of endemic vegetation, already limited by the realm's direly low entropy.

A jagged maze of caves, cliffs, ledges and ancient paths, existence under these conditions is extremely harsh and competition for resources is brutally intense. The creatures that live within it are forced to adapt to - and exploit - the profusion of fungal life that persists there.

Overview

The Mycofields is a Portal World region located in Anteverse 2. It appears as a craggy, malformed mass of rock orbiting a false “sun” that is actually a vacuum point slowly sucking everything inward. Positioned much closer to its star than Anteverse 2A, the area is subject to powerful tidal heating and tributaries of superheated magma; these conditions, combined with the realm’s extremely low entropy, severely limit plant growth and make the environment overwhelmingly hot and hostile. The terrain is a jagged maze of caves, cliffs, ledges and ancient paths where competition for scarce resources is intense, and the fauna have adapted to exploit the profusion of fungal life that persists there.

In-game, The Mycofields is encountered as a Portal World with placed resources and hazards. It can be unlocked by examining a Thermocell found in Dr. Wakemen’s room in the Residence Sector. It can be accessed from Canaan and is listed as a drop from Niketas. The region contains an exit portal at the very top but no shortcuts unlocked by completion; players are expected to explore its vertical and maze-like layout to reach resources and objectives. One notable outpost contains pre-placed 9mm ammunition on top of a small GATE outpost guarded by an Exor Monk and an Exor, making it one of the Portal Worlds that include placed ammo.

Because of pervasive lava flows and sustained high temperatures, heat protection is essential. The Fire Proximity Suit is explicitly recommended for this area; alternative armor that provides substantial heat resistance (for example certain chestplates) is also effective. Players should gather Anteverse Gels and Carapace materials here in large quantities, as these components are required for several crafting recipes. Several bowl-shaped plants scattered through the Mycofields hold Antejuice, which can be consumed to quench thirst during exploration.

Several enemies native to The Mycofields relate to its fungal ecology and extreme conditions: Mushroom Peccary, Mushroom Carbuncle, Scuttlebug, Plague, Exor Monk, and Exor. Many of these creatures release infecting spores, so airtight head protection such as the Lab Mask, Mushroom Helmet, or Carapace Helm is suggested to reduce infection risk. Scuttlebugs are blind and react to sound; they can be approached quietly and struck with melee weapons to obtain their drops. Some enemies also drop Carapace and other crafting materials used throughout the game.

Practical notes and tactics:

  • Prioritize heat resistance: equip the Fire Proximity Suit or armor pieces that combine to reach significant heat resistance. Some traits and armor bonuses grant additional resistance; plan loadouts accordingly.
  • Protect against spores: wear headgear that grants an Airtight Seal to prevent infection from Mushroom Peccaries and Mushroom Carbuncles.
  • Use mobility tools: jump pads are placed around the area, but equipping a Jetpack or Dangling Gravity Cube makes reaching high or remote ledges much easier.
  • Resource farming: clear the region for Anteverse Gels and Carapace items — the location is a reliable source for those crafting materials.
  • Enemy handling: exploit Scuttlebugs’ blindness by sneaking to perform melee takedowns; be prepared for packs of fungal creatures and for hostile Exor enemies near GATE installations.
  • Collectibles: a Figurine can be found in the GATE outpost on the corner of a large Filing Cabinet on the floor.

The Mycofields combines extreme environmental danger with valuable fungal-derived resources, rewarding careful preparation, heat- and spore-protective equipment, and attention to vertical movement and stealth tactics.
