Official description

A backpack that allows for increased flight by jumping twice. May not initially respond well to portal environments.

Overview

The Jetpack is a wearable backpack item that grants the wearer an additional aerial maneuver: performing a double jump increases flight capability. Activating the Jetpack’s effect is done by executing a second jump while airborne, which extends reach and airtime compared with a normal single jump. The device is intended primarily for vertical mobility and short mid-air adjustments rather than sustained true flight.

The Jetpack can be used to clear taller obstacles, reach higher platforms, and extend jump arcs for tighter platforming sections. Across languages the same operational quirk is reported: the Jetpack may behave inconsistently when interacting with portal-type environments. Specifically, it can fail to respond or operate intermittently immediately after entering or traversing portals, so players should not rely on it for precise maneuvers at the instant of portal transitions.

  • Activation: perform a second jump while airborne to trigger the Jetpack’s effect; this provides increased height and longer airtime compared to a normal jump.
  • Portal interaction: expect initial glitches or delayed responsiveness when entering portal areas; allow a brief moment after a portal transition before relying on the Jetpack for critical movement.
  • Practical uses: ideal for reaching higher ledges, extending horizontal jump arcs via added airtime, and negotiating platforming sequences that require a follow-up jump.
  • Limitations: the Jetpack augments jumping but does not replace sustained flight mechanics; its behavior can vary briefly in portal environments and should be treated as a short-duration mobility aid.
