The crate requires a GATE Security Key to unlock; once opened it yields high-value security gear and repair supplies, and the crate itself can be packaged and reused as a durable storage container with storage capacity and radiation shielding equal to a Hazard Crate.

Contents commonly found in a GATE Security Crate include the Night Pass, Security Pistol, Security Helmet, Security Vest, various gun repair kits (Light and Intermediate), and stacks of 9mm ammunition. Loot stacks and chances vary, but the crate reliably contains at least one of the listed security items and repair materials that are useful for maintaining firearms and surviving high-threat areas.

GATE Security Crates appear in many named locations and specific spots throughout facility zones, often behind locked doors or in rooms that require advanced access tools or hacks. Representative spawn locations include:

• Office Sector: outside the Security Sector door by Alice Hong (Level 2) and in several Level 3 labs and balcony rooms near Alice Mayfield (some rooms require a Keypad Hacker Tier 2).
• Security Sector: multiple offices and the Fitness Court, upper Storage Bay areas, and rooms beyond the main security doors (several spawns require Keypad Hacker Tier 4 and progression of the security main doors).
• Cascade Laboratories: inner wing of Containment Blocks on the upper level in a hallway overlooking Containment Block Dirac.
• Reactors: Power Services sewer (requires Antethermite to access), on the Cloud Reactor building with a water tower (beyond Defense Robots and Jotun), and in Mist Reactor near a Dr. Manse hologram.
• Manufacturing West: on a catwalk outside the office where Sarah Frake is first encountered.
• Hydroplant: in a balcony room within the dam wall below the initial Hydroplant entry point; access may require a Jump Pad or jetpack.
