For those who like being seen.

Overview

The High-Vis Vest is a wearable item intended to make the wearer more noticeable; its in-game description reads simply that it is "for those who like being seen." It appears as a collectible garment with at least two color variants and functions primarily as a cosmetic/identifying piece rather than a mechanical upgrade (no gameplay modifiers are listed in available sources).

The vest can be found across multiple locations in the world. Notable spawn points include numerous spots in the Manufacturing West region: near the crashed car and the green door to the Garage and Supply Room; inside the Supply Room itself; in the mines area (multiple buildings and rooms, including near a green pipe that requires an Optic Lens, close to a parked truck, near water and carts, and in a small room by the excavators where Sarah Frake and Douglas are present); inside Shipping (in the same room as Hank Kettle and another room that leads to Alloy Handling where a Fibre Optic Cable is required); in the Mapping Center’s large room with three Order enemies clustered together; and inside the Tram station. In Hydroplant, a vest is located in the Waterfall Apartments in the room where the Voidpack recipe is found. In the Cloud Reactor area (Reactor), a blue variant of the vest is located close to Frake; this Cloud Reactor spawn is reported to be the only source of the blue-colored variant. Visual references show two color variants in the item gallery.

Acquisition through trading is also possible: the High-Vis Vest can be obtained by trading a Super Tomato with Grayson.

Practical notes and strategy:

  • If you are hunting for a specific color, prioritize the Cloud Reactor near Frake for the blue variant; other locations commonly yield the alternate color.
  • The item commonly appears in indoor rooms and tucked-away spots (Supply Room, Shipping, small mine buildings, and apartments). Thoroughly search rooms that contain crafting recipes or NPCs, as several vests are colocated with recipe rooms or named characters.
  • Use progression items to access certain spawn locations: for example, areas that require an Optic Lens or a Fibre Optic Cable should be revisited once those items are available to reach vest spawn points.
  • Trading with Grayson provides a reliable alternative to searching; if you have a Super Tomato to spare, this removes the randomness of world spawns.
  • Because the vest is primarily cosmetic, prioritize its collection when completionist goals or character appearance matters; it does not need to be prioritized over progression-critical items unless you are specifically seeking a color variant.

The High-Vis Vest is straightforward to collect but can require exploration or specific trades to obtain the variant you want.
