Overview

The Wayseeker (Enemy) is a multi-phase boss encountered when the player activates the ritual stone on the island. It behaves as a large hostile entity that alternates between ranged fireball attacks, summoning minions, and defensive shield phases that force the player to prioritize destroying summoned tentacles before dealing further damage. The fight progresses through three distinct phases, each increasing the frequency and intensity of the Wayseeker’s offensive and defensive abilities; the boss relocates by diving into the water and reappearing elsewhere on the island between attacks.

In Phase 1 the Wayseeker attacks primarily by firing Mystagogue-like fireballs from a floating claw; these projectiles are easily avoided by sidestepping. The encounter is well suited to long-range damage — shooting from a distance is the most reliable way to put consistent damage on the boss — but thrown weapons and long-reach melee (for example, a Laser Emitter Katana) also perform effectively. The Wayseeker periodically submerges and resurfaces at one of a handful of predictable locations: behind the church, behind the topside boathouse, in the island center near the dock, and close to the lighthouse. Use these movement patterns to anticipate reappearing positions and prepare firing angles in advance.

Phase 2 begins after a threshold of damage is dealt. The Wayseeker now summons Exor enemies and adds another fireball-shooting claw, increases its defensive behavior by generating a damage-absorbing shield, and spawns damaging melee tentacles. These tentacles must be destroyed to lower or remove the shield so the boss becomes vulnerable again. The Wayseeker also gains a charged, high-damage laser attack; this beam has a clear charge-up and should be avoided by taking cover behind nearby buildings when it fires.

Phase 3 further intensifies the fight: more Exor minions spawn, an additional fireball claw appears, and the frequency of shield generation and laser charge attacks increases, reducing windows when the player can safely inflict damage. Continue to avoid attacks and focus DPS during brief vulnerability moments to finish the encounter.

Practical notes and strategies:

  • Prioritize high-DPS weapons and conserve charge; this is a long, attrition-heavy battle. Expect weapon charges to deplete or items to break.
  • Bring one or two charged Laser Emitter Collectors to replenish top-tier weapons during the fight.
  • Take advantage of periodic island heals: the Mystagogue of the Unlost on the island occasionally uses a large-area heal (telegraphed by giant green spheres) that restores substantial health — step into these spheres when safe to do so.
  • Friendly NPCs such as Jotun of the Unlost and Chieftain of the Unlost provide useful supportive fire against spawned enemies and tentacles; use their presence to buy time for recharging or repositioning.
  • If the character Kylie is present in her robot body, she contributes explosive mortar and rocket fire that helps suppress minions and tentacles.
  • Always seek cover when the Wayseeker begins charging its high-damage laser; buildings provide reliable protection and preserve HP while the beam fires.
