Mug of Coffee

A highly caffeinated drink. Sure to knock some fatigue off, but may have other side-effects.
Overview
Mug of Coffee is a consumable item that restores a character's fatigue by delivering a concentrated dose of caffeine. It functions as a quick, low-cost recovery option for tired characters and is treated like a standard single-use restorative consumable in the game world. While effective at reducing fatigue, the drink can produce additional side effects when used.
Mug of Coffee can be purchased for one dollar from Coffee Vending Machines. Coffee vending machines appear in several fixed locations across the game map: Office Sector level 1 (Cafeteria Security Lounge); Office Sector level 2 (Security Office); Manufacturing West (inside Shipping, in the kitchen); Cascade Laboratories level 2 (lobby kitchen); the

Practical notes and tactics:
- Primary use: employ the Mug of Coffee when you need an immediate reduction in fatigue without using higher-cost or longer-rest mechanics. It is especially useful between short encounters or while exploring where rest opportunities are limited.
- Cost and accessibility: at one dollar per mug, vending-machine availability makes this an inexpensive and widely accessible option in areas where machines are present.
- Side effects: the beverage reliably alleviates fatigue but can cause unspecified secondary effects. Expect potential trade-offs after consumption; use when the immediate benefit outweighs uncertain follow-up consequences.
- Inventory management: because each mug is single-use and cheap, carry a few if you expect repeated short bursts of activity, but avoid relying on them as a replacement for full rest when long-term status is important.
- Tactical timing: consume before engaging multiple encounters or tasks requiring alertness to maximize the short-term boost; avoid using it when you anticipate effects that could interfere with long-duration activities.
- Role considerations: characters who benefit most are those that require on-demand alertness or who have limited access to beds/resting locations. Characters with means to remove or mitigate side effects should prioritize its use.
Do not expect the Mug of Coffee to substitute for restorative items that heal other conditions; its primary mechanical purpose is to reduce fatigue through a strong caffeine effect, with the caveat of possible additional consequences after use.
