DESIGNATION: Solutus (EN/EX/IN)

CONTAINMENT PROTOCOLS: All previous attempts at containing this denizen of Anteverse 23 have proved fruitless, and little practical research has been accomplished - or even made possible.

Observations have shown IS-0211 has been able to unmoor itself from physical space, resulting in even more evasive behavior than IS-0139.

Commenting on the two creatures' apparently similar crystalline morphology, Dr. Peters offered two possible theories. The first suggests potentially parallel evolutionary tracks, although she notes that behavioral similarities are largely superficial.

Dr. Peters favors her second theory, which proposes that both subjects are infected with an extremely aggressive, and as-yet unidentified pathogen that drastically transforms their physiology, drawing into question the nature of Anteverse 23 and its apparent crystalline inclination.

Overview

Power Leech is a Solutus-class denizen designated IS-0211 that appears as an electrical parasite in the world. The compendium entry classifies it with EN/EX/IN designations and documents behavior that makes it exceptionally difficult to contain: IS-0211 can detach itself from physical space, producing evasive movement patterns that exceed those of IS-0139. Researchers note a striking crystalline morphology shared with IS-0139; one prevailing explanation in the entry is that both creatures are infected by a highly aggressive, unidentified pathogen that dramatically alters their physiology, raising questions about the nature of Anteverse 23 (though one compendium note suggests the origin listing may have been intended as Anteverse 17).

In-game, Power Leeches behave as electrical parasites that attach to power outlets, batteries, and similar equipment to drain electricity. They commonly appear plugged into equipment boxes and electrical fixtures across many areas of the map rather than wandering freely. A Portal Suppression Field automatically destroys individual Power Leeches; however, they continue to spawn until the corresponding Giant Power Leech is defeated, at which point spawning ceases.

Power Leeches are encountered in a wide variety of locations and contexts. They are sometimes obtained from environmental interactions such as fishing in Radioactive Waste and are found in containers, behind crates, on vehicles, inside server rooms and freezers, and plugged into equipment boxes or outlets. Notable spawn sites include multiple spots in Manufacturing West (suspended containers above the Foundry, Mapping Center floors, a cave below Shipping, the Supply Room), Flathill (equipment boxes), Cascade Laboratories (cold storage freezers and the Containment control center server room), Hydroplant (broken SUV on the bridge and buildings guarded by Defense Robots), Reactors (trucks near rail tracks, underwater pools in the Gale Reactor areas), Village Den da'ko Yeer (pool with dead scientist and Neutrino Mapper), and Residence and Trading sectors (behind crates and in Divarcation in Fragments). Some spawns are located near holograms, molten liquid corridors patrolled by Grunts, or close to Mystagogues.

Drops and progress-dependent loot: Power Leeches have a stable primary drop and conditional secondary drops that change as the player advances. Their default drops include a Circuit Board (100%) and Powdered Crystal (50%). After entering Cascade Laboratories, Capacitors (50%) become available in the drop pool in addition to the default items. After opening Gate 2 in the Security Sector, Electrical Organs (50%) are added to the possible loot.

Practical notes and tactics:

  • Power Leeches attach to the electrical systems of the environment; inspect equipment boxes, outlets, vehicles, servers, and refrigeration units when clearing areas.
  • A Portal Suppression Field will destroy Power Leeches automatically; deploying or activating such fields is an effective countermeasure when available.
  • Destroying a Giant Power Leech halts further spawning of smaller Power Leeches for its region, so priority-target the giant to stop waves.
  • Because they drain power, clear them before attempting to use or loot powered devices to avoid disabled equipment or hazards.
  • Fishing in Radioactive Waste provides a rare chance to obtain one outside of fixed spawns.
  • Loot composition improves as you progress through certain story gates and locations; revisit areas after unlocking Cascade Laboratories or opening Gate 2 for additional drops.

Lore connection: the compendium’s emphasis on crystalline morphology and the pathogen hypothesis ties IS-0211 into broader mysteries surrounding Anteverse 23 and its apparent crystalline tendency, making Power Leech both a battlefield threat and a subject of ongoing in-universe scientific concern.
