Walkthrough: Remembrances, Day 1–2 Guide
Elden Ring Nightreign walkthrough — concise step-by-step progression and route planning to complete Remembrances, clear objectives, and optimize Day 1–2 play.
This walkthrough covers how to progress Remembrance quests at the Roundtable Hold, common Day 1/Day 2 routing decisions on the expedition map, recommended priorities (crystals, lower-level clears, forts/temples), and key duel/boss unlock steps encountered while advancing chapters of the Raider/
Quick Remembrance flow (Roundtable Hold)
- After a Remembrance is added to your Journal, return to the Roundtable Hold and speak with the Raider in the dining area. He will add objectives and direct you to other NPCs (for example Wylder or Weathervane) as the quest progresses.
- Many Remembrance chapters require you to:
- Talk to a sequence of NPCs (e.g.,
Iron Menial,
Wylder, Iron Menial again).
- Travel on an expedition with the Remembrance active and go to the map marker that appears (marker location varies per chapter: southwestern, northeastern, southeastern, etc.).
- At the objective site you will often be forced into a combat encounter against multiple guardians/enemies that block the relic or item you need (examples: three Guardians of the Dew blocking Golden Dew; three Fallen Mercenaries blocking Weathervane’s Words). Defeat them to claim the item.
- Return to the Raider/Iron Menial and present the obtained relic/words to progress. A ghostly spring frequently appears at the relevant NPC to let you conclude the Remembrance and receive the reward (remembrance outfit, relic,
Crown Medal, Chalice, etc.).
- Talk to a sequence of NPCs (e.g.,
Examples:
- Duchess Remembrance: speak to Wylder and the Iron Menial; interact with the table in the Table of Lost Grace to bless the Iron Coin; give the Blessed Iron Coin to the Iron Menial in the catacombs; conclude the episode at the ghostly spring to receive Duchess’ Remembrance Outfit and Blessed Iron Coin (and Duchess’ Chalice earlier in the chain).
- Raider Remembrances: progress through multiple chapters by talking to Iron Menial and touching monuments, visiting battleground markers, and defeating specified bosses (Onestrike Warrior, Blinding Elder Lion, White Horn). Rewards include torn cords, chalices, garb, and the Black Claw Necklace.
Revenant unlock: defeat or face the first Nightlord, buy Besmirched Frame from Small Jar Bazaar, interact with the Revenant phantom at the Table of Lost Grace to be transported into Limveld, defeat the Night Idol at the Fort to unlock Revenant as a playable character.
Expedition routing — Day 1 priorities
- Primary Day 1 objective: locate and destroy up to four Resonating Crystals and, if possible, break the Great Crystal. This unlocks later objectives and prevents map-wide penalties.
- Balance crystal hunting with enemy farming. Do not run the map only to chase crystals; clear low-level camps and farm enemies that drop “潜在する力” (latent powers) or other useful items so you have sufficient level and gear for night bosses.
- Starting-area strategy:
- If you spawn near the southernmost point: clear Kaiden Mercenary ruins for quick XP/loot, drop to the lower layers and clear the southwest lower-level areas.
- If you spawn near the east cathedral: clear enemies, kill Abductor Virgins (they drop multiple weapons up to purple rarity), then head to nearby churches and descend to lower-level center/southwest.
- Lower levels are easier; clear them early. The circle (first contraction) tends to close toward the center/north, so starting low and moving upward is a natural path.
- Optional early objectives on Day 1: visit and clear caverns/pits (坑道) and mage towers if they are nearby and safe to reach. Note that some pits connect to underforts that may be within the Crystal’s miasma — do not enter those without the large-cavern boon (大空洞の恩寵) because the Crystal Curse halves your maximum HP inside cursed areas.
Example Day 1 route tips (North-East start):
- North-east Grand Church → East pit (if manageable) → Move to center; use churches/merchants to upgrade and prepare. South start:
- Camp → Kaiden mercenaries → South Grand Church → East pit and onward to center. Consider using your spectral eagle (霊鷹) to move faster and avoid being caught out of the circle.
Day 2 routing and strategic choices
- Your Day 2 plan depends on map mutators and special map features:
- If you have a Shifting Earth map: prioritize heading straight to the Shifting Earth and clear it — these typically occupy the entire Day 2 to fully reward you.
- If you do not have a Shifting Earth: prioritize Great Enemies and strong objectives across the map; when the circle begins to contract, head for the castle/keep (it often remains in the final circle) and clear the boss there.
- Midday objectives: locate the Great Crystal and destroy remaining Resonating Crystals to unlock major rewards or access to large caverns.
- Underground forts vs. Temples (when choosing mid/late-game targets on Day 2):
- Underground forts (地下砦) are generally preferred: they contain more latent powers, more chests and weapon racks, and better chances to improve equipment and affixes. They are more complex and maze-like but more lucrative overall.
- Temples (神殿) give some specific advantages (chance for Legendary weapons from latent powers, and the “大ルーンの虚像” latent power) but only yield a small number of latent powers (commonly three) and may take as long as a fort to clear for less reward. Many players skip temples unless time permits or you specifically need temple rewards.
- East vs. West underground forts:
- East Fort advantages: more linear/clear routes, three blessing points (北側・中央・南側) appear even without clearing the boss, better revival/respawn logistics, and central transfer gate near the middle for quick access to the opposite side if the contraction forces relocation.
- West Fort advantages: guaranteed church for Sacred Flask pickups, contained mine entrances for easy retrieval of crafting stones (鍛石【2】), guaranteed weapon racks and guaranteed drop boxes for certain materials (聖印 weapon rack and guaranteed starfragment box), and slightly more latent power spawn points (east commonly ~10, west ~12 including variants).
Recommended Day 2 approach:
- If you have the Large Cavern boon (大空洞の恩寵) before attempting forts/temples, do them — otherwise forts/temples are inside the Crystal’s miasma and will severely reduce your max HP until you obtain the boon.
- If uncertain about your firepower or equipment: prioritize the underground fort over temple due to wider rewards and the availability of merchant/upgrade points inside.
Combat and boss notes (common encounters)
- Many remembrance objective locations spawn multiple guarding enemies that must be killed to claim items. Expect groups of three guardians or three mercenaries in many objective sites.
- Repeating certain duels (e.g.,
Revenant duel on the southeastern beach) is allowed: if you die, you may redo the fight until you succeed.
- Large multi-phase boss fights (examples from chapter content):
- Some bosses (e.g., Balancers) change phase dramatically after all sub-enemies are defeated; expect a cinematic cue (screaming, visual blood coating) and new attack patterns.
- Godrick-style boss behavior: use wide area cyclone/quake attacks, roll reposition, and watch for homing projectiles — treat such fights as multi-phase with reposition windows.
Chapter progression highlights (what triggers what)
- Many Chapter objectives are triggered by specific in-game accomplishments (defeating particular Nightlords, executing choices at the Roundtable, or talking to specific NPCs in sequence).
- Example chapter chains:
- Chapter 1: Talk to the Lady twice, talk to the Guardian twice, defeat either the Three-Headed Beast or the Dark Hunter, then report back.
- Chapter 2: Speak to the Guardian and the Priestess, obtain a Blessed Flower (north-east), defeat the rogue knight boss, return items to the servant doll, paint on a nearby canvas to conclude.
- Chapters 3–9: Each follows a similar pattern of talk → expedition objective (specific marker) → defeat boss/collect relic → return and conclude to receive the “遺物” (relic) and “追憶” outfit or other rewards. Some chapters present branching choices (e.g., Chapter 9’s choice of “罪を裁く” vs “罪を赦す” changes the flavor of the relic but not its numeric effect).
Practical tips and priorities summary
- Always activate a Remembrance in your Journal before setting out — the objective marker appears on expeditions only when the Remembrance is active.
- Prioritize breaking Resonating Crystals early on Day 1 while simultaneously farming enemies for latent powers and levels.
- Clear lower levels first; plan to move upward with the contraction circle.
- Choose underground forts over temples for time-efficient and higher-volume rewards unless a temple offers a specific weapon or latent power you need.
- If a Shifting Earth is present on Day 2, treat it as your primary objective for maximum returns.
- Use merchant/upgrade opportunities that appear while exiting pits or forts to reinforce gear before later bosses.
- Return to the Roundtable Hold to talk to NPCs and conclude Remembrances after each expedition objective; ghostly springs usually mark the conclusion point and grant the chapter reward.
