Status effects in ELDEN RING 
Each effect builds up from repeated hits or environmental exposure, and most can be removed or prevented with a matching Bolus consumable. The table below compares every status effect — how it triggers, what it does, and the item that cures it.

Bleed

Effect summary
When the bleed buildup meter fills, deals a large burst of damage equal to a percentage of the target's max HP. One of the most reliable damage tools against high-HP targets.
Death Blight

- Rejuvenating Boluses
Effect summary
When the death buildup meter fills, the target dies instantly regardless of remaining HP. Caused only by specific Nightlords and certain weapons. Cure on sight or expect a wipe.
Frostbite

Effect summary
When the frostbite buildup meter fills, deals damage and increases damage taken from all sources for a short duration. Strong against high-HP bosses with long phases.
Madness

Effect summary
When the madness buildup meter fills, deals heavy HP and FP damage in a single burst. Some enemies are immune. Effective against humanoid bosses and Nightlords with FP-dependent moves.

Effect summary
Once the poison meter fills, applies a moderate damage-over-time tick. Reliable against most bosses. Deadly

Effect summary
Once the buildup meter fills, applies a heavy damage-over-time tick that drains HP for an extended duration. The most punishing DoT effect in the game when applied repeatedly.
Sleep

Effect summary
When the sleep meter fills, the target is briefly stunned for a few seconds. The next attack against a sleeping target deals critical damage. Useful for setting up burst windows.
