Beam Tower

Overview
Beam Tower is a power-transmission building that routes electricity along straight, orthogonal connections like the classic Mindustry nodes. It functions as a directional relay: it accepts power from any side and sends it onward only along the single straight path that continues through it. This makes
Beam Tower useful for creating long, linear power lines or for forcing power to travel in a specific direction without branching.
Beam Tower behaves differently from simple nodes in several ways. It does not generate sparks when destroyed while holding charge, unlike batteries. It can accept input from non-orthogonal sources such as
Power Source and
Power Void, but once placed its internal transmission follows orthogonal rules: connections pass straight through the tower rather than forming cornered links. Any
Plastanium Wall placed across a
Beam Tower’s line severs its connection, and that severed link cannot be manually reconnected.
Practical usage and interactions:
- Use Beam Towers to create tidy, unbranched power corridors that keep current flowing exactly where you want it. Their straight-through behaviour prevents accidental turns or splits.
- Beam Towers can be fed by angled sources (for example, a
Power Source not aligned to the grid) but will still transmit power straight; plan placements so the outgoing path aligns with the desired grid direction. - Because Beam Towers do not spark when destroyed while holding power, they are marginally safer to demolish under load compared with batteries or other charged storage blocks.
- Be aware that
Plastanium Walls will permanently sever the beam network where they intersect. Avoid placing such walls in critical transmission lines or place them with gaps to allow reconnection via other node types. - The
Beam Tower’s operation mirrors the transmission rules from Mindustry Classic, so classic designs that rely on strictly orthogonal connections translate directly to current use.
