Bench

Benches are decorative buildings in Timberborn that increase the attractiveness of nearby areas and affect how long beavers linger in their vicinity. They are purely aesthetic structures that contribute to the settlement’s ambience and can be used to shape pedestrian traffic and dwell time around plazas, parks, and other public spaces.

Benches were introduced at Early Access launch and have received several updates since. In Update 2 benches gained the ability to be constructed underneath platforms, allowing more flexible placement in multi-level builds. In Update 4 benches were made faction-specific in appearance and bots were changed so they no longer use benches.

Benches do not provide production, storage, or direct resource benefits. Their primary function is to raise the desirability of nearby tiles; placing benches among other decorations increases the average time beavers spend near those structures, which is useful for concentrating foot traffic around important communal buildings or scenic areas. Because they are decorative, benches are best unlocked after acquiring more functionally essential structures, unless the player’s plan emphasizes aesthetics or population happiness early.

Practical notes:

• Benches can be placed under platforms (since Update 2), enabling compact decorative layouts on multi-tiered construction.
• Faction-specific visuals (since Update 4) allow benches to match the aesthetic of different beaver factions.
• Non-bot beavers will spend longer periods near well-decorated areas that include benches; use this to route beavers past specific facilities or through plazas.
• Benches do not consume resources beyond their construction cost and do not interact with production chains.
