Overview

Dynamites are landscaping buildings used to remove terrain blocks in a controlled explosion. They come in three strengths—Dynamite, Double Dynamite, and Triple Dynamite—each removing 1, 2, or 3 terrain blocks respectively. Dynamites are placed on Paths and can be built underwater, but they cannot be constructed on the map’s lowest level. They are part of the landscaping toolkit for reshaping terrain and unlocking new buildable areas.

Construction requires Explosive items (and Extract for Double/Triple variants) and Science research to unlock. The three variants have the following requirements and unlock costs: the basic Dynamite removes 1 terrain block and costs 1 Explosive and 600 Science Points; Double Dynamite removes 2 blocks and costs 1 Explosive + 1 Extract and 900 Science Points; Triple Dynamite removes 3 blocks and costs 1 Explosive + 2 Extract and 1200 Science Points. Builders turn Explosives and Extract into the assembled dynamite items as part of the production chain.

To use Dynamites, select a placed charge and choose Detonate. When a dynamite detonates it triggers adjacent dynamites at the same height, creating chain reactions that can flatten large areas quickly. Detonators (an in-game tool) can be used to instantly explode fields of placed dynamite. Dynamites cannot destroy Badwater Sources or Water Sources. They can be placed under pump pipes, and a keybinding exists for detonation to speed large-scale landscaping.

Practical notes and interactions:

  • Place dynamite on Paths to target specific tiles; placement on the map's lowest level is prohibited.
  • Underwater placement is allowed, but water sources and badwater are immune to destruction by dynamite.
  • Use Double or Triple Dynamite to remove deeper or multiple-layered terrain more efficiently, balancing Explosive and Extract costs.
  • Chain reactions efficiently clear contiguous fields; plan detonation patterns to avoid wasting materials or accidentally blocking access.
  • Dynamite models and functionality have evolved over updates (e.g., path placement, multi-strength variants, and detonation keybind), so visual appearance and placement quirks may vary by game version.

Dynamites are categorized under Landscaping and are a mid-to-late-game option for beaver colonies that need to rework terrain rapidly.
