Power Wheel

Overview
The
Power Wheel is a 3×1 workplace that generates mechanical power when staffed by a beaver. It produces a base of 50 Horsepower but its actual output scales with the worker’s Movement Speed modifiers rather than being fixed. Movement Speed bonuses increase generated power and Movement Speed penalties decrease it; for example, the maximum Movement Speed bonus of +70% raises output to 85 Horsepower, while a -25% Movement Speed penalty reduces output to 38 Horsepower. The
Power Wheel continues to deliver its modified output while the beaver is occupied at the wheel.
Power Wheels transfer power to adjacent power networks and, since Update 6, also transfer power underneath the building footprint. They are compact and efficient sources of early- to mid-game power when paired with beavers who have strong Movement Speed modifiers from well-being or other bonuses. The building is a
Folktails-exclusive structure as of Update 5. Its cost was reduced from 40
Logs to 20
Logs in Update 7.
Practical notes and interactions:
- Because output scales with Movement Speed, prioritize placing beavers with high Movement Speed (from high well-being, buffing structures, or traits) on Power Wheels to maximize Horsepower per worker.
- Avoid assigning thirsty beavers without access to water; Thirst imposes Movement Speed penalties and directly reduces power output.
- Power Wheels are space-efficient (3×1) and can be embedded into compact power networks; their ability to transfer power beneath them allows routing power lines under the building for tighter layouts.
- The
Power Wheel is best used when you can reliably maintain beaver well-being; otherwise its variable output can make power planning less predictable.
