Prickly Pear

The Prickly Pear is a desert plant that grows naturally in the Desert biome. It can be harvested for Cactus Figs, making it a useful wild source of food and a way to spread the plant to other parts of the island.

Breaking a Prickly Pear yields 0–2 Prickly Pear Flesh, which can be buried to grow a new Prickly Pear in any biome on any soil or sand. A planted Prickly Pear takes 12 days to grow before it becomes productive, and after that it produces figs every 7 days. This makes it one of the few desert plants that can be moved and cultivated elsewhere without needing desert terrain.

• Harvest the plant for Cactus Figs while it is standing in the Desert.
• Break it if you want Prickly Pear Flesh for replanting.
• Replanting works on both soil and sand, so it can be established in many locations.
• Once planted, it is a slow starter, but it becomes a steady renewable source of figs after the initial growth period.
