Overview

Scorpion is a hostile creature that starts out aggressive, unlike many other animals that only attack once provoked. Its direct attack is only 3 damage, but it also has a pierce effect that ignores defense and inflicts poison, making it far more dangerous than its raw attack power suggests.

The poison effect deals 1 damage every 10 minutes for 2 hours, for a total of 12 damage per application. Each time Scorpion hits a target, the poison stacks again without any apparent upper limit, so repeated attacks can become lethal very quickly. In practice, even a Ratizen wearing Plate Armor will not survive long if repeatedly struck.

Scorpions can not cross a height difference of 2 blocks, so a safe way to move around their habitat is to build walls around the nest area and place Ladder segments over the top. This lets Ratizens pass above the danger while preventing direct contact with the creature below.

As a material, Scorpion is only used as a construction resource for Poison Trap. Even so, Poison Trap is one of the strongest traps in the game, so if Scorpions can be obtained, they are well worth hunting or farming for that purpose.
