Overview

Armadillo is a wild creature that can be hunted for resources. It is notably timid: when attacked by hunters or other threats, it does not fight back and instead curls up and tries to flee. Because of this behavior, it is easier to catch and harvest when its movement is restricted by simple enclosure tricks.

Armadillos are primarily used as a crafting material at the Butchery. Processing one Armadillo yields 8 Leather, making it a much more efficient source of leather than Rabbit. As of the official release on May 1, 2025, Armadillo can also be processed into Raw Meat, giving it a broader food use than before.

To improve hunting efficiency, trap Armadillos in a small area by stacking Dirt Block two high or enclosing them with Wooden Door and similar barriers. Since they try to escape rather than retaliate, limiting their path is the key to collecting them reliably. If both Armadillos and Rabbits are available, it is often better to use Rabbits for Raw Meat and reserve Armadillos for leather production, since Armadillos provide leather more efficiently.

A small number of Armadillos can cover a surprisingly large leather demand. Two Armadillos are enough to supply the leather needed for 100 sets of Leather Sack and shoes, since the total leather requirement is 16.7.
