Overview

Oil is one of the most basic consumable goods and is also used as an ingredient in other production chains. It is a versatile midline material rather than a finished luxury product, so its value comes from both direct sale and from the items it enables.

As of v.1.0.0100, Oil’s price was raised from 20 to 25, and its production efficiency at the Grinder was improved. This makes it easier to turn Oil into a profitable commodity even before it is processed further. If you are producing it with a Luminator, exporting it directly can already be lucrative, but in most cases it is better to refine it into Soap before selling, since the added processing usually increases the return.

Oil can also be obtained more reliably through fish-based production now that Fishery efficiency has been improved. That makes fish a practical way to secure the required amount of Oil ingredients or output, especially when setting up a stable supply line. In other words, Oil sits in a useful position between raw resource and high-value crafted good: it is easy to integrate into production, and it becomes significantly more valuable when converted into Soap.
