Flour

Flour is a processed grain product made at the Grinder. It is an important intermediate ingredient used to produce Bread, Cake, and Pasta, and it is one of the basic food-processing materials in the settlement economy.

For most colonies, a single dedicated Grinder is enough to supply the flour needed for Bread production. Because Flour itself cannot be eaten, it is best not to overproduce it if bread output is not keeping pace; turning too much Grain into Flour can leave the colony short on actual food. This is especially relevant early on, since poor classes cannot eat Bread by default at the start of the game.
