Handicraft Workshop

A small workshop for dexterous ratizens. Produces various necessities.
Overview
The Handicraft Workshop is a production building used to turn common materials into a small set of crafted goods. It can make

Its recipes are straightforward but serve different purposes: Candle can be produced from Beeswax and

In practice, the Handicraft Workshop became more convenient after version 1.0.0100, when the productivity of Gum and Candle production was increased. This made the building more attractive than before, especially if a colony is already generating the required inputs. It is still not among the highest-priority facilities, but it becomes worthwhile when there is spare labor and a need to convert surplus materials into useful specialized goods.
A few practical notes:
- If you want both Candle and Gum regularly, 2–3 workshops is a comfortable number.
- Candle production is especially important for noble victory plans, since Candle can be the final push needed to satisfy the 50 upper-class residents requirement.
- The workshop is a good fit when you have excess Beeswax, Myrrh, Oil, Rope, Joy Flower, Rubber, Syrup, or Papyrus that would otherwise sit unused.
- Because its recipes cover different resource chains, it can help smooth out production bottlenecks without requiring a dedicated building for each product.
Overall, Handicraft Workshop is a flexible support building: not essential early on, but very useful once the colony begins targeting specific advanced goods such as Candle, Gum, or Paper.
