Ash Tree

Ash Tree is a resource found deep underground in the volcanic biome. It can be obtained by mining the ash tiles that make up the terrain or by gathering wild Ash Tree growths, which turn it into an item that can be collected and used elsewhere.

At present, as of v1.0.0101, Ash Tree has no practical use beyond being gathered and stored. Even so, the material is still part of the biome’s identity and is worth recognizing because the surrounding ash terrain has unique behavior. Stepping on natural ash tiles deals 1 damage every 20 in-game minutes. This damage-over-time effect applies only to the leader, Ratizens, and raiders; wild animals are not affected.

Ash tiles also interact strongly with water. When water flows onto natural ash terrain, the tile absorbs it far faster than Slate Roof. This makes ash terrain notable not only as a collectible resource, but also as a distinctive environmental hazard and fluid sink within the volcanic biome.
